The first teachers of the Catholic faith for any child are the family members with whom he or she lives. What happens in the “domestic church” on a daily basis has a profound impact on the on the lessons of life and faith that a child learns. The goal of the Our Lady of Lourdes Religious Education program is to partner with parents to form lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ. Through weekly worship, prayer, study, action, fellowship, and fun students in grades K-8 who attend local public schools are invited to grow in faith and participate in the life of the Church community.
Celebrating the Sacraments is a key part of our Catholic faith, and preparation for receiving the Sacraments is a big part of what happens at RE. Students in our parish prepare for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion during 1st and 2nd grade. Confirmation preparation is done in 9th and 10th grades. Participating in RE classes and attending Sunday Mass regularly with their families ensures that students have the necessary foundational knowledge of the faith and the desire receive the Sacraments when it’s appropriate.
